Surrendering Your Pet

The Galax Carroll Grayson Animal Shelter is an open-admission, managed-intake facility. We accept owner surrenders from residents of Galax, Carroll County, and Grayson County through a structured waiting list process.

Due to space limitations, we sometimes face difficult decisions regarding euthanasia. Animals that are medically or behaviorally compromised, and that we are unable to treat or rehabilitate within our available resources, may be humanely euthanized. Our goal is always to ensure that every animal entrusted to our care is given the quality of life they deserve.

Our team may be able to provide resources to help you keep your pet or assist you in getting placed on our waiting list.

Once you are added to the waiting list and all required paperwork is completed, your pet will be shared publicly while you await intake into the shelter.
